Casting for Circus Bella 2012 Season!
Circus Bella is an open air, one-ring circus that features premiere circus artists accompanied by the amusing and inventive Circus Bella All–Star Band. Circus Bella was founded in 2008 by David Hunt and Abigail Munn with a vision for accessible and high quality traditionally staged circus in the SF Bay Area. Since then, the company has produced its annual Circus in the Parks series, and provided talent for local and national events.
SEEKING:
✮ Professional, high caliber ground acts: appropriate for all ages and cultural sensibilities. Solo and/or partner acts will be considered.
✮ Ring Leader/ Stage manager: the host of the Circus in the ring, this position would also assist with show production management
✮ Intern/ Stagehand: able to assist with set-up/ teardown as well as production assistance during the performance.
We are not seeking Aerial acts at this time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
✮ A willingness to lift, carry haul set-up tear-down (ie. participate in the grunt of the show beyond just performing their act)
✮ The ability to perform outdoors with within the natural elements
✮ The ability and experience of working and creating alongside others
✮ The ability to perform and collaborate with a live band
✮ Although not essential, club juggling passing skills is an asset
COMMITMENT :
Rehearsals begin mid-February and will take place in Oakland 2 -3x/ week. We may consider contracting artists for show only slots, requiring a less frequent rehearsal schedule. Please inquire.
Performances run from late June through July throughout the Bay Area. Dates are mostly on weekends.
Beyond the Circus in the Parks Season, there are opportunities for additional performances in September-October as well as smaller gigs that inevitably arise during our season.
Compensation:
Company members receive a competitive stipend based on rehearsal participation, performances, and experience.
